Mad Wolf Mongolian BBQ

With so many great eateries, we had to start with one of Thomas’ all-time favorites, Mad Wolf Mongolian BBQ. This hidden gem is located at 4110 N. Harbor Blvd (northeast corner of Harbor and Imperial Highway) in Fullerton, California. Thomas has been eating here since July of 1999, and in the first few months of our dating, we must have eaten here at least ten times. For those that have never eaten Mongolian BBQ, it is quite simple.

Mongolian BBQ is buffet style eating. You combine meat, veggies, sauces, and noodles into a bowl. Take that bowl to the chef, who will cook in on an open, circular griddle. The process takes about 2-5 minutes if you are the only person in line. If you are worried about contamination don’t be, they repeatedly clean the griddle throughout the day.

Tip: When prepping your bowl, always put the noodles on last. If you add them prior to the sauces, then most of the sauce will spill out of the bowl and onto your hands.

Mad Wolf is open daily from 11am to 9pm (Sunday closes at 7pm). The restaurant is closed from 3 to 5pm daily as the staff prepares for the dinner crowd. The menu consists of All You Can Eat ($9.95) or One Bowl ($5.95). The more you eat at Mad Wolf the more you learn how to tailor the bowls to your tastes. Playing with the veggies and sauces can give a completely different taste.

Tip: If you go the one bowl route, you can pile the bowl as high as you like. The food shrinks as cooked, so keep shoveling on the goodies!

Here are their reviews on Yelp- http://www.yelp.com/biz/mad-wolf-mongolian-barbecue-fullerton. This is a great place to sit alone with a book or enjoy conversation with friends. And yes, Thomas has even celebrated his birthday at Mad Wolf. Although, after closing in on 17 years you would think they would put his picture on the wall.

Delicious food at a low cost; what more can you ask for? If you go at the wrong time, say a Friday at 7:30pm, you will have a wait of about 30 minutes. There have been complaints that the staff is not as friendly as they can be, but they treat Thomas like a king, so too bad for you.

Mad Wolf Mongolian BBQ gets Thomas’ highest recommendation. Try it out for lunch, post a pic on Instagram, and tag us while you grub. @lovetogrub
